Round 7 As the players were returning from lunch and milling around the playing room, Robin Pollock Daniel (Toronto ON) had her laptop open and facing outwards as she walked around the room. Turns out, she was giving a tour of the place on video conference with her husband, Gary, and her son, Reese. My station was part of the tour and I got to say hi and wave, too. Evan Berofsky (Thornhill ON) vs. Christopher Sykes (Cambridge ON) at table 3, I see that Chris opened with BOTANY and Evan replied with BOURRIDE. On his next play Chris tossed down th 149-point BAPTISED for 149. Two turns later, Evan played PARANOID for 104! Sue Tremblay (Carlsbad Springs ON) vs Joel Wapnick (Montreal QC). Their board is perfectly symmetrical wtih triples going down the middle to the bottom sides. One is QUAVERER and the other is DEVIATOR. While I'm there, Joel lays down ReMNaNTS for 77 from the R. I also see SOBERING on the board. Adam Logan (Waterloo ON) vs. Lou Cornelis (Ottawa ON). I see INDORSERS, TARNISH, AUDIENTS, BAlLOTER, CINEOLE, and FILMING. Adam's win, 492-410. John Robertson (Cambridge ON) comes up to the front, virtually aglow in a yellow SCRABBLE T-shirt. As if he is reading my mind me says, "Notice the shirt? I hail aircraft in my spare time!" Then he launched into a story. But, is is one of those unformed as of yet stories with no beginning, middle, or frankly, end. And as he's telling the story, we both realize that it wasn't making sense and," he suddenly says, "Well, I wanted to play MANKINDS* and I almost had myself convinced to play it, but I'm glad I didn't. It isn't good." I thanked him for the update and remind us all to not put an S on MANKIND (unless you are playing SOWPODS!). Craig Rowland (Mississauga ON) points out a five-bingo game he and Jeff Parsons (Logy Bay NL) created. The opening play was ZYMES for 58 played by Jeff. He went on to play TREBLING and TIARAED, too. Craig played REALIGN, NEONaTe and NEWSCaST through the blank a (nice find!). It was Jeff's win, 448-420.
