Round 11

Mark Schellenberg (Calgary AB) vs. David Boys (Dorval QC) at table 1. Three beautiful plays by Dave: AMBERINA for 74, OUTFELL for 64, and the 90-point triple-triple VOyAGeRS. Now I see Mark's PETLIOLED through the L for 76! Tha computer annotators at this board are very busy. Eugene D'Eon is running Quackle quite large on his pc and the annotation DOoM software very small. I can hardly see it standing over him. On the other side of the board, Chris Lipe is running DOoM a bit larger, but he's also blogging on another screen and talking to Andy Saunders, his paper annotator, from the command line of the DOoM software. Me, too, sometimes, if I take time to notice! Mark is losing this game, but he's still focusing on it intensely, sitting back in his chair, taking in the possiblities, looking more relaxed than maybe he feels. Dave continues to track on his thigh, his leg bouncing lightly when he isn't writing.

I see LITHEsT on a Glenn Dunlop (Brantford ON) board.

"You da man, Adam," I hear Robin Pollock Daniel (Toronto ON) say to her opponent, Adam Logan (Waterloo ON). She was referring to his very nice late game find of EaLDORMEN to the EN for 80.

"She is full of phoneys, this one," said a smiling Marilyn Murray (Richmond BC), in reference to her opponent this round, Dielle Saldanha (Richmond BC). Dielle smiled guiltily and nodded. I see the challenge sheet says PRETUMOR* and it was challenged off by Marilyn. They both clearly enjoyed their game, which Marilyn won.

George MacAulay (Saskatoon SK) vs. Jeremy Hildebrand (Ottawa ON): George opened with QUEAN and Jeremy later added COT to the front to reach the triple world. Jeremy had a fun 50-point ZEBRA play and Geroge got down BRAWnIER. While Jeremy's last rack was IIIIOOD, George bingoed to win with ENDOSTEAL to the AL for 76! Exciting finish! 421-369, George's win.
