Round 23

Poor Nathan Benedict (Tucson, AZ). In his last 8 games, he's played 6 bingos to his opponents' 23. In one game alone, Sam Rosin (Bernardsville, NJ) had six bingos. In a game with Ian Weinstein (Coral Springs, FL), he played JURAT, giving Ian just the tile he needed with a dreck rack to play LAWGIVER to that R. Then, in what he believes to be an incredibly defensive opening play of TUTU, his opponent, Sam Rosin (Bernardsville, NJ) played UNFELTED for 89. "It was just absolutely awful."

Suhas Rao (Apex, NC) had a monster game with round with Jacqueline Camper (Memphis, TN), winning 551-308. He played five bingos: AEONIA, MEDIAnTS, OROIDES, FEELERS, and OUTsAIL.

At table 24 in division 1, Brian Galebach (Columbia, MD) just played a 10-letter out-bingo on the triple. At the challenge machine, he nearly jumped 10 feet straight up when NITRIFiERS (played from the NIT) came back acceptable. Victories being what they are, he still managed to lose the game, but what a word victory! His opponent, David Whitley (Monrovia, CA), played NARDINE, VITIABLE, and DAHLIAs. Brian also got down SEROSAL and lost, 418-425.

Merriam-Webster has donated four of their gorgeous visual dictionaries for us to give as prizes in the event. I wish I were playing!
