Round 6

"Sandra Bloom (Tamarac, FL) in division 3 just triple-tripled with STRAINER for 131," says a note slipped under my elbow. Way to go Sandra!

Kate Fukawa-Connelly says: in CSW, every time I walked by Sam Rosin (Bernardsville, NJ) vs Laurie Cohen (Tempe, AZ), there was a new bingo on the board. FAKIEsT#, BIDENTS#, AILANTOS# and DEATHIEST# to ST# were all Sam's, and Laurie had RESOWInG, RETICULE and TIGRINE#. Sam wins, 566-468.

Wanting to give Nawapadol Sayavesa (Thailand) somewhere to eat his BURRITo, David Koenig (Silver Spring, MD) fished three times to finally hit TAQUERIAS, extended from TA. too little too late, and Dave loses to his second roommate in a row, Chris Lipe (Rome, NY), 380-415. will he get the trifecta later against Eric Kinderman (Burlington, VT)?

Jesse Day (Berkeley, CA) has an early lead against Judy Newhouse (Houston, TX) in division one, and plays ETAMINE with an E in second position in the triple lane. Judy triple triples with MEETINgS, but Jesse still has a lead, and goes on to win 445-357.

In Ryan Fischer (Charlotte, NC) versus Matt Canik (Austin, TX), Matt makes the nice extension of JAMB to JAMBEAU. He also bingos with TEAPOTS, rAWHIDE, TRUNDLER and, VOmERINE and SIGANID, to Ryan's BAYONETS and CONIDIAL. Matt, 557-364.

Pretty words on Conrad Bassett-Bouchard (Piedmont, CA) vs Ian Weinstein (Coral Springs, FL): PULQUE, SEICENTO and DAIMYO.

I see ANTIDORA again, Scott Appel (Elkins Park, PA) vs Jerry Lerman (Foster City, CA).

Jesse Matthews (Kelowna BC) plays two phonies, GAUDED# and ROUGY*, both of which stay on the board, but Evans Clinchy (Boston, MA) still wins, 413-405.

In the face-off between the Nigels, Nigel Richards (Malaysia) defeats Nigel Peltier (Portland, OR). A nice bingo exchange, NR played CIGARETS through the R for 94 and NP replied with FRAILEST through the S for 74. The kindest thing NR can say about me is unlike other reporters I don't interrupt his game to ask why he played what he played, at least I wait until he is done. I remind him that annoying him is part of my job description.

Komol Panyasophonlert (Thailand) vs. Kenji Matsumoto (Berkeley, CA), in progress: ALAcRITY, EXACTIOn, REPORTEES, and DURATIOn.

Jason Keller (Highland Park, NJ) vs. Orry Swift (Houston, TX). I see REqUITES and NIDATED. Later on I happen by the completed board and Orry shakes his head. He tells me the honest truth, "Well, Sherrie, I lost because I tried to play DROWZIER*. It helps to know your words when you play!"

Jerry Lerman (Foster City, CA) vs. Scott Appel (Elkins Park, PA): JUBILANt, ANTIDORA, ENABLERS, and CUdDLING.

David Gibson (Spartanburg, SC) vs. Robin Pollock Daniel (Toronto ON). My two favorite bingos are his: WEIRDOES and EPIGONI. She got down WRONGEsT, ACEDIAS, and PONIEST. Her win, 498-386.

Ian Weinstein (Coral Springs, FL) vs. Conrad Bassett-Bouchard (Piedmont, CA): SEICENTO, PULQUE, DAIMYO, LIVERIED, AEROSAT, and TOGATeD.

Matthew Tunnicliffe (Ottawa ON) vs. Rafi Stern (Seattle, WA): ApIARIAN, SCUTELLA, OSIERED, and NEURoNIC.

Reese Daniel and CJ Tyler cannot believe that EUOUAE# is a word.

Joey Krafchick (Roswell, GA) defeats Dave Leifer (Alpharetta, GA), 463-299. I see Joey's STrAYERS for 66, FEEBLEST for 67, INQUIRE for 77, and CIBORIa (a nonbingo board closer). HE also got away with UNWRAPT*, adding it to the front of WRAPT.

Sam Kantimathi (Sacramento, CA) announces that he is the only undefeated player in the CSW division.

Flora Taylor (Hillsborough, NC), in the hall, tells me that she just played VOLVOX. Her eyes are sparkling, she is so happy. Jan Cardia (Hockessin, DE) overhears and says that SONOVOX is the only other acceptable VOX hook. Flora just lost this last game, her first defeat in the event, but is delighted that she got to play that word. Gotta look for life's silver linings!

Arthur Moore (Ocoee, FL) is delighted. He was down by 120 to Michael Donegan (Austin, TX) and he had three great plays: ATOMISE for 66, QUASH for 45, and then NAZIFIES from the NAZI to the triple for 72. This won him the game, 404-370!

Kate keeps telling me she is tired, but she keeps on taking notes, so I couldn't be happier.

A note slipped into me: On a Marcia Richards (Centreville, VA) vs. Martin DeMello (San Francisco, CA) board, the word FEsTERING was played through the ER. Later an S was put on and it was challenged off, which came a bit of surprise as most INGS words are good in Collins."
