Finals 4

We've had a break and we are all happy to resume!

Tony starts and holds EEIGNOS. We think he will be GENOISE, SOGNIEE. He misses it.

With Q?OVARY, Adam Logan (United Kingdom) plays OVARY.

Tony now has EGINOSW. Tony plays RESOWING and we all cheer.

Adam has LNQTWU?. We like QUILT. He plays it.

Tony holds AEEPRTX. We hear EXPERTS, saving an E, by Joel Wapnick (Montréal QC). PARGET is what Robin sees, saving EX. He plays APTERYX. We clap wildly in here.

121-78, Tony's lead.

Adam has AAINNW? He plays WANIGANs for 86 through the G.

Everyone likes these plays.

Tony has AEEGIOT. Robin sees AGIO. He plays GATE, saving EEO. They don't like the leave and they think is sets up a dangerous H hook.

Adam's rack: BIKMORU. RUMAKI is suggested and played. Approval from all.

Tony has: AEEENO? We agree, too many Es. We wish he'd played AGIO and kept the T. Robin talks about how everyone has a style. Robin asks for suggestions for unloading. Anything? He plays WEE. We like it says Robin.

Adam holds BCGILOU. Robin thinks about SUBLOGIC.... Robin suggests using the TI area, adding a C. He plays GUL. Not a lot of reaction either way. I think they are all glad they don't have this rack!

Tony holds AAEINO?. We find two bingos that he misses. He plays AEON at o8. We all make a loud "awwwwwwwww..." Robin jokes about getting him a many vowel bingo book and we all agree it is TOUGH as nails to play in there!

Adam has BCEIIOZ. Someone shouts COZIER, which Robin says is excellent. Adam plays it.

Tony has ADILNO? and John suggests some more bingo practice for Tony. Tony's annotator suggests LIANOID. He chooses CONiDIAL. We like it. Robin says it was the first bingo she saw.

Adam's turn, BDEEIPR. We see BEDIAPER. He plays it. We applaud the 63 point play.

310-250, Adam's lead.

Tony has BIJRSTY. Robin says he has a good Y spot and he doesn't need to play it off right away. Maven likes RIBBY as do many in here. Tony plays JIBB and Robin and the room approve.

Adam has AHIRSTU. Some almost words and what ifs. Robin likes ETH area, coming down. And she knows the hot spots, for sure. As he plays there. HUT for 30. They all like it fine.

DHORSTY are Tony's tiles. Robin sees THYROID, but it doesn't play. Robin suggests HYDROS. John Chew says he has a very good Canadian word! He misses it and plays YET from the B in JIBB. The crowd applauds as he blocks Adam's good play FORESAID. And we thought Adam was rehearsing his acceptance speech!

Adam has AEFIORS. Robin suggests FEDORA setting up an S hook. FERIAS to S was a play suggested by Joel says it isn't good. Adam plays something we had not thought of: FLARE for 37 points.

377-324, Adam's lead.

Tony has DEHORST. I hear SHORTED mentioned. People mention HORDES for 43 points. Puts him within 10 polints. Zev suggest DHOTI, and Robin likes it very much.

367-377, 10 point lead for Adam.

Adam has AEIMOOS (the room moans when we learn he has CDFLSTV). Robin says it is not looking good for Tony. YET blocked JIBBOOMS. Robin says that Adam knows Tony isn't going to bingo no matter what. John says that if Adam knew the vowel was on Tony's rack, he would make a blocking play to further restrict Tony's options; but he's only got the 10-point lead, so he has to score a few points, too. Both are fidgeting, Tony retracking and Adam wiggling his scoresheet.

Robin wants to know if we think he will play one tile or two. Many suggest emptying bag. Adam plays OM, Robin likes it.

Tony, holding CDLSTFV fires right back. Tony plays QUILTS.

397-387, Adam's lead.

Adam has AEIEOOS (and Tony has CDLNTFV). We all sigh.

How does Adam block the F and V? Evan suggests SEI. Robin agrees. Robin wonders if Adam can stop the V being played, too. Maven agrees with Evan's suggestion. I hear a VIS suggestion.

Adam is chewing hard on his collar, not the sort of position you want to have with 2:00 left on his clock.

Robin congratulates the finalists on playing very well.

So, Adam plays OSE and Tony fires back VIS.

Tony has 9:11 on his clock and adam has 1 minute.

Adam played ODEA, then Tony played FLIC, and Adam went out with YETI, winning the third game and the CNSC 2005, 438-403.

Adam Logan (United Kingdom) beats Tony Leah (Ajax ON) 438-403 and is the new Canadian Champion. See recorded game.
