Revision as of 23:33, 13 March 2024

NASPA Zyzzyva version 3.4.1 was released on 2024-03-11 for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Release 3.4.1 is a maintenance release that supersedes version 3.4.0.

Note that the word lists are the same in version 3.4.0 and 3.4.1 so an upgrade, while strongly recommended, is not required.

Updated Definitions

Release 3.4.1 includes updated definition files for both the desktop and mobile editions of NASPA Zyzzvya.

The updated definition files improve the handling of words that are inflected forms of a word with more than one definition. For example, LED is now defined as < LEAD, to show the way to by going in advance [v] instead of < LEAD, to cover with lead (a heavy metallic element) [v].

You will need to rebuild the lexicon database for the NWL2023 and/or NSWL2023 lexicon in order to see the updated definitions.

  • In the desktop application (NASPA Zyzzyva), use the Tools > Rebuild Database menu action to rebuild any or all lexicon databases.
  • In the mobile app (NASPA Zyzzyva Mobile), open the Settings tab and then:
  1. Use the Lexicon page to edit the load list, unloading any lexicons that you don’t intend to use.
  2. On the main Settings page, swipe left on the Create Lexicon Databases row to expose the Rebuild All button, then press the button, and follow the instructions.
  • If you use data synchronization on multiple devices, you should rebuild on one linked device, sync the changed databases up to Dropbox, and then sync them down to your other devices.

Note:This change has no effect on judging, which does not require the creation of lexicon databases.

Issues Fixed In Desktop Versions

  • An important bug affecting active synchronization of quiz-statistics / cardbox databases on Windows has been fixed.
  • Playability order values have been regenerated from robot games played using Quackle settings that are more representative of actual game play.
  • The Reorder button in Quiz tabs now reorders tile images as instructed, even if you have rearranged those images by dragging.
  • An unintended keyboard cutout after each response to questions in timed quizzes has been removed.
