So, I'm sitting, editing photos, when this quiet voice asks if I want to see a 6-bingo game. I nod and walk over with Jackson Smylie (Toronto ON) to his game with Will Nediger (London ON). There was three 8-letter words in the bingo mix. Will played AVERAgE, INSOLATE, and DENOTING. Jackson got down ROTARIES, NESTLED, and REPAINT. It was a 518-392 win for Will. So, Jackson brings me to a game he lost: class act all the way. I ask Will how he did last round and we talk the 40-point differential. I then ask Jackson if he'd told Will about his last game. Will smiled and said he'd seen on the wall display that he'd played Adam. Will said, "I hear that you won, eh? Not too shabby at all." These young players, just something else!

Lou Cornelis (Stoney Creek ON) vs. Jason Ubeika (Mississauga ON): FORESTED, INTRORSE, ANOdIZED, and EXACTORS on the board.

Sue Tremblay (Carlsbad Springs ON) just winds up her game with Ross Brown (Ottawa ON), winning, 441-378. I see her PEsKILY and his DELTAICS*. She said she'd wanted to challenge, but let it go.

Allen Pengelly (Waterloo ON) says, "I suppose I should tell you how the Hasbro Canada boards just won me a game." I nod and start writing. He explains that he played HAJI and announced his score as 65 due to the coloured square confusion from beneath the J. Both he and Robin Pollock Daniel (Toronto ON) spent several minutes counting and recounting this play, trying to get it just right. In the end, neither of them noticed the I hooked to make Im. To cut them slack, it was a blank, but still, IM?

Chris writes:

Okay it's the start of round two... and Jackson Smylie (Toronto ON) and Will Nediger (London ON) are already almost done! Jackson has 16 minutes on his clock and Will has 13 minutes left, and the bag is empty. A beautiful day, why not play two?

Yvonne Lobo (Mississauga ON) is holding QUINNAT / QUINTAN in her game against Juraj Pivovarov (Calgary AB) but it doesn't look like it plays, unfortunately.

Joel Wapnick (Montreal QC) vs David Wood (Thunder Bay ON), one of them opened the game with GROSZ, which is appropriate considering that Joel will likely be spending some grosz in Warsaw this fall at the World SCRABBLE Championships. Sherrie adds: After doing so well in today's EB, David wandered up and said, "I suppose I should tell you about the pounding that Joel just gave me." GROSZ was Joel's for 50. He also played DENTING, OUTFIRE, PIVOTINg, and UNSAYInG. David managed to get down TEABOARD, but it was all Joel, 552-304.

Jason Ubeika (Mississauga ON) vs Lou Cornelis (Stoney Creek ON) — Lou bingoed with INTRORSE and Jason came back with FORESTED for a 167-point triple-triple. This brings the game to... about even. How exciting!

Michael Lancashire (Toronto ON) plays UNALERT against David Boys (Dorval QC) — it's challenged and comes off. SQUATTER is on the board — not a triple triple — Michael player SQUAT and Dave played -TER. Filling out the results slip, Dave indicates that they're playing in Division Acerbic Aardvark. He played WOOZY with five in the bag and almost pulled EKPWELE to bingo out, but it's still his win, 498-355.

Jesse Matthews (Kelowna BC) looks like he's enjoying playing ENJOYERS for 116. His opponent Glenn Mosher (Toronto ON) is enjoying it less.

Jim Nanavati (Burlington ON) vs Steve Ozorio (Mississauga ON) — GHOULLY* is on the board. (GHOULIE is good but nothing with the Y.)

Vera Bigall (Toronto ON) against David Jones (Ottawa ON) — not sure which of them, holding EEEMNV? played VEHEMENT into a T, but that's sure a nice find!

Robin Pollock Daniel (Toronto ON) against Allen Pengelly (Waterloo ON) — Robin played WOMANISE, and then hooked the R for WOMANISER#.

Craig Rowland (Mississauga ON) loves to spend time travelling and learning new languages. I don't know if he's ever spent any HRYVNIA in the Ukraine, but it's on the board in his game against Betty Bergeron (Calgary AB). Sherrie adds, when the game was over, Craig pointed out Betty's RESTAGES for 79 and his FLINTeD for 85, TENONED for 72, and ALTERING for 80. Of the Russian word, he played, he said he'd played it to the A as a nonbingo, keeping a B. A lot of points for what was essentially a dump!

Ron Hoekstra (Surrey BC), after his nailbiter two-point win in round 1, has made the margin even closer with a one-point win against Shan Abbasi (Mississauga ON). He's now 2-0 +3.

Evan Berofsky (Thornhill ON) opened with bIOTRON against Randall Thomas (Calgary AB). Randall came back with LEFTHAND*, which Evan held. For three minutes, the two lefties sat as Evan tried to decide if it was hyphenated or not. Eventually Evan decided correctly and the word was challenged off the board.

John Stardom (Ottawa ON) has won by a large margin over John Dungey (Mitchell ON). John turned AEIITU? into the gorgeous MAIEUTIC, which drew a challenge as well.

Sherrie writes, "Chris is good, eh?"
