John Chew writes: "More meta-simulation results from tsh. Here are percentage chances that each player will make the finals. Joel and Tony each have about a 50% chance; Evan and Will 20%; Matt, Zev, Jesse and Adam 10%; Eric, Ron and Robin less than 10%."

Board 2, Will Nediger (London ON) slaps down DONATING for 72 moments after Tony Leah (Ajax ON) played DELIVERY for 98. I see Will's OXYACIDS (of this play, Chris Lipe says, "That is SUCH a Will play, he's always making those types of words!"), and EGLATERE. He also got down the nonbingo TOURACO through the R. Nice rack cleaning. Tony played EQUATING, EXAcTING, and SODOMItE on the triple. After the game ended, Will asked why not a Z. I guess he thought it might be more defensive? It was Tony's win, 496-408. And for a few moments, Tony as at the top of leaderboard, until the results of the game at table 1 came in. Joel Wapnick (Montreal QC) defeated Matthew Tunnicliffe (Ottawa ON). When I asked Matthew how it went, he just shook his head that it didn't go well.... at all.

Adam Logan (Ottawa ON) defeats Zev Kaufman (Toronto ON) at table 3, 469-358. Adam played TOTALIST for 77 and ThEBAINE for 86. Zev got down COEDiTS and ENTRIES for 72.

I think a few mistakes took place at the Gabriel Gauthier-Shalom (Montreal QC) vs. Jim Nanavati (Burlington ON) board. I took down plays periodically thoroughout the round: ORDERING, RIVETTER, SEAmILY, GRATINEE, MATZOHS, DENTALIA, BYNAMES, and QOHPs. When it wrapped up, Gabriel wasn't in the mood to talk. That's fine. I later find out it was a 1006-point game for them. Jim's win, 573-433.

So, after mr. smartypants bingoed out to defeat Zev Kaufman (Toronto ON) last round, Jesse Matthews (Kelowna BC) did it again this round to Ron Hoekstra (Surrey BC). In the endgame Ron played SUPPLInG for 69, which gave Jesse the perfect spot for AUDITEE/SI/UT/PE/PE for 81. With 16 from Ron's rack (and no overtime penalty!), Jesse eked out a 492-391 win. I see Ron's ANSERINE for 60 abd Jesse's RAdIATOR for 74 and FRIDGES for 80.

Jeff Parsons (Logy Bay NL) vs. Geoffrey Newman (Brampton ON): StOLEN, GASTRIN, ORDAINED, and TRIDEnTS on their board.

Glenn Dunlop (Brantford ON) wants to point out to me what would be considered "the best stratetic play in Texas." He was behind, 289-317, to John Dungey (Mitchell ON). He was poised to play MURRhINE from the M, down the triple for beaucoup points, but John blocked. So, Glenn searched and searched. And he finally found an awesome spot for UNRIpER/zAp/AGE/SIR for 76. It had to nestle in just perfectly and the blank could only be a P or an S and he managed to find the spot. It won him the game, 406-378. Good going, Glenn!

Allen Pengelly (Waterloo ON) slips onto my desk a sheet of paper. It says, "I double-blanked Yvonne Lobo (Mississauga ON) so she only beat me by 244!" Her bingos were WANTLES for 78, LITTERED for 83, RIEVERS for 93, and ADZUKIS for 89. All naturals! The end score: 605-361. Congrats to Yvonne!

The games this round are being paired based on results of the just completed round, so we are having a bit of down time between rounds whereby the directors are combing the room and zeroing in on the ones with missing paperwork!

Chris writes:

Wow, with three games to play there are 26 players within three games of first place. Crikey!

Andrew Golding (Verdun QC) is playing Randall Thomas (Calgary AB) and they have a blank quiz for everyone: the word on the board is OU??OES... there's two possibilities.

Betty Bergeron (Calgary AB) is playing Jackson Smylie (Toronto ON) and Betty's having a tough time. She's got both blanks, but also four tough consonants plus the Q. She exchanges, and as she picks up her tiles I see her deflate when she turns over the J. A while later I walk by again and she has both blanks and the J and the Q. It's just that sort of game, and Jackson has some nice plays — POMACE, FERALS, and bingoing with NEROLIS. His win 345-315.

Eric Tran (Calgary AB) is playing Robin Pollock Daniel (Toronto ON) and even though Eric had the great ENvENOMS early, Robin had bingoes of AMUSIVE, CARPINGS, and aGENETIC to take the lead. Eric's GOITERED# didn't stand the muster of Zyzzyva set to OWL mode, and it was Robin's win 418-372.

Dielle Saldanha (Richmond BC) is playing David Jones (Ottawa ON). Dielle hits LEnTIGO early. Her FUSILAGE* didn't stay — although I'll admit I wouldn't have challenged since I can't spell that word. David's EARsTONE and SEISING put him ahead by a bunch. Dielle had a great setup late in the game — playing CAB one short of the triple word holding the case S, and her 104-point NIDATES at the end made it close, only a 460-404 win for David.

Jeremy Hildebrand (Ottawa ON) has got a low win against Craig Rowland (Mississauga ON). The only bingoes in the game are Craig's — RIPTIDES and then rEBATOS to bingo out, but the rest of the game was pretty miserable for both sides as far as scoring was concerned. Jeremy had big power tile plays but was bingoless, and he eked out a 332-306 win.

Answer: OUTDOES, OUTGOES. I haven't a scooby# which it was on the board.
