The 2004 National SCRABBLE® Championship was held on July 31 - August 5, 2004 at the New Orleans Marriott at 555 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA, 70130. After registration and a reception on Saturday, July 31st, competitors played a total of 30 rounds from Sunday, August 1st to Wednesday, August 4th.

The top two finalists in Division 1 played a best-of-five match on the morning of Thursday, August 5th, which was televised on closed circuit TV to the player audience and has since been telecast on ESPN and ESPN2.
