Who can play in the tournament?

In order to play in the NSC, all U.S. and Canadian players must be current members of the National SCRABBLE® Association, and must have played in at least one NSA-rated tournament by June 1st, 1998. Overseas residents are welcome and do not need to be members or to have played in NSA tournaments.

All players must register by following the instructions in the following section by July 24th, 1998.

How do I register to play in the tournament?

Print the form at the bottom of this section and mail it between July 1st and July 24th, 1998 to
National SCRABBLE® Association
403 Front Street
P.O. Box 700
Greenport, New York 11944
Make sure that your form has printed correctly - some older web browsers are notorious for omitting text during printing. Include the appropriate entry fee for your division as shown in the following table:

DivisionRating*Early FeeLate Fee
11800+$75$100
21500-1799$60$85
31200-1499$55$80
41-1199$50$75

Use your rating as of the July 1st, 1998 ratings list to determine which division you may enter. Players rated in that list within 100 points of an upper division may choose to "play up" in that division instead. If you are an overseas resident without an NSA tournament rating, you will be placed in Division 1 or 2 at the NSA's discretion.
